If you cook frequently when you travel, there’s a good chance you find yourself always needing the same few staple ingredients. These are often things that you can’t count on finding in each hostel’s kitchen, but that are too expensive to keep purchasing each time you want to cook dinner.
I’m sure I’m not alone in my misadventures attempting to take spices and condiments in my backpack from one hostel to the next. This past summer I had an embarassing incedent on a train where the spices I’d been hoarding in a side pocket of my backpack blew up all over the people sharing my train compartment when I tried to put my bag in the overhead storage.
Which got me thinking, shouldn’t there be a better way to maintain a mobile spice cabinet?
As it turns out there are a few options:
First you can buy a pre-assembled ‘travel spice kit’, like this one on Amazon.
Or you could go with a more compact option, like this multi-spice shaker.
But my personal favorite is this super-compact option. Buy it empty and fill it with your favorites.
